Blessed Silence

On this icon Christ appears as an angelic, ineffable love.
This subject appears first in 15th Century in Russia inspired by iconography of the Byzantine iconography of the Angel of the Great Council. Christ here is painted as a young Emmanuel. His attribute on this icon are beauty, a discreet presence. His silence is an invitation to quite prayer inspired by David`s invocation to inner prayer to "Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord" (Psalm 141:3).
